The Mystery of Snookie

Can someone please tell me why the Jersey Shore show is so popular?  I just don't get it.  Do people watch just to make fun of these kids?  Do the mistakes of others make watchers feel good about their own decisions?  Is ridicule now a national pass time?  Or is it just fun?  What do you think?

Snookie, the Situation (what the hell kind of names are these?) and the rest of the gang are on the View today.

Why?

  1. I don't get why any reality stars are such big deals these days -- but particularly Snookie, et al..

  2. Never seen it, don't pay attention to news about it, also - hate the View! So, no idea why they're on there - but I think it's a train wreck, and america loves train wrecks.

  3. I think that if you've ever spent time in that part of the country you're more likely to find it humorous. But this level of celebrity is ridiculous.

  5. I have never watched it so I can only assume it is trash tv. Kind of like Jerry Springer. Total trash. There are so many other good programs to put on tv. But our society is full of people that like that crap I guess. Fortunately I am not one of them.

I heard NJ won't let them film the show there anymore. They have to film in another state. What does that tell you.
