Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I think this song is hands down the most beautiful rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, besides the classic one by Judy Garland of course!  It's sung by a Hawaiian singer named Israel Kamakawiwo'ole who unfortunately dies in 1997.

I've probably listened to it several hundred times.  It's so lovely!

  1. Ooh! I love this version. There's just something about his calm voice and the different tempo that hits you in a fresh way, you know?

I will admit, tho, that at the other end of the spectrum, I looooove Patti LaBelle's version. It makes me cry.

  3. Oh, hands down my favorite version! I feel guilty about even admitting it because Judy Garland is so wonderful. Something about his voice takes me away though and I love that place. I sing this to Arwen and imagine the two of us together, alone in the clouds or on a hilltop or anywhere else, and it's so nice. :)

  4. That is what we are walking down the aisle to! It's been a fave forever (or at least in the last 6 years since I've been going to Hawaii!). H's brother is going to sing and play the ukelele!

    Katie - Me too ;)

Mel - That is so sweet. I'm sure Arwen loves it! :)
